AC REPAIR

Residential AC repair

Repair, installation and maintenance for home air conditioners in Yakima, Selah, Wapato, Toppenish and the rest of the valley, on all makes and models.

Chapter 01

Clanging, squeaking, leaking, stopping and starting: what your AC is telling you

Clanging sounds, squeaky noises, leaky units, constant stopping and starting, too hot, too cold. Those are the problems we hear about most from homeowners in Yakima, Selah, Wapato, Toppenish, Naches, Moxee, White Swan and Sunnyside, and they are all common on air conditioning units. None of them gets better by being ignored through a July heat wave.

Behind those symptoms sit a short list of usual suspects: weak airflow, a frozen evaporator coil, a thermostat that has stopped reading the room, a failing blower motor or fan, a refrigerant leak, or an electrical fault. A noise or a puddle tells you something is wrong. It does not tell you what, and guessing at it is how a small repair turns into a large one.

Our work on residential air conditioning comes in three parts: AC repair, AC installation and AC maintenance. Most calls start with the first one, and the other two come up when the repair tells us something about the unit's future.

How a repair visit runs: find the cause first, then fix it

We make appointments easy to schedule and offer prompt availability. One customer wrote that she appreciated the text telling her when the technician was arriving and what his name was. When he gets to the house, he starts with diagnostics: a thorough assessment to identify the root cause of the problem, not just the part that happens to be failing loudest. Then he explains what he found in plain words, so you can decide with the facts in front of you.

Repairs use high-quality replacement parts, so the fix lasts, and the solution is tailored to your unit and your house instead of pulled from a one-size script. We work on all makes and models. Estimates are free, and you see the pricing before the work starts.

Here is how one Google reviewer, Timothy Allen, described a visit: “I had an excellent experience with CP Mechanical. They arrived on time and did a thorough job servicing our HVAC and A/C units.” That is the standard we hold ourselves to, and it is why we answer your questions before we leave rather than after the invoice.

Chapter 03

Maintenance that prevents the repair, and when a new unit makes more sense

Regular AC maintenance is the cheapest way to extend the life of an air conditioner. A visit includes a thorough inspection, cleaning and optimization of the unit and its components. In the Valley that often means the outdoor coil. The photo above shows a condenser we serviced with the coil matted brown with cottonwood fluff, the kind of blockage that makes a unit work harder for the same cooling. Proper upkeep helps you avoid costly repairs and keeps energy use in check.

Sometimes repair is not the right answer. If your AC is struggling to keep the house comfortable and your utility bills are higher than they should be, it may be time to install a new system. Other signs worth taking seriously are a system more than 15 years old, repair bills every year, and an energy bill that suddenly spikes. We repair first whenever repair makes sense, and we say so honestly when it does not.

If you do replace, we offer modern, energy-efficient units, and you can ask us about ductless AC to find out whether it is a good fit for your home. Financing is available on installations. Call the office at 12 S 6th Ave, Yakima, on (509) 426-2069, Monday to Friday, to book a repair, a tune-up or a replacement estimate.
